IS THE REPUTATION OF WOMEN’S CREDIBILITY AND NDP JAGMEET SINGH ON THE LINE?
Canadian politics, guided by the Liberal Party and specifically PM Trudeau, are running out of control influencing other party members to respond quickly in national television without practicing due diligence. PM Trudeau did the same things when the eleven-year-old girl who said that her hijab had been cut by an Asian man twice. It all ended being a hoax, but Trudeau jumped to conclusions and made a mistake in a statement on national television. In the eyes of many Canadians, they both overreacted to quick and did not look good publicly nor up to their political status.
LGBTQ2 – IS CANADA A PROGRESSIVE NATION?
There is no doubt that Canada is seen around the world as a modern, adaptable, and progressive country. While admired by many, it is hated and disrespected by a few. Sadly, that is their problem, not ours. There is no doubt in my mind that we are a forward and progressive country and for that, all Canadians should feel proud and hope other countries will follow suit.
SAD DAY FOR CANADIAN MULTICULTURALISM AND INTEGRATION
An 11-year old Muslim girl said she was attacked twice by a stranger cutting her hijab (covering hair) with a pair of scissors, on her way to school.
WHAT IS STRONGER – RELIGION OR PATRIOTISM?
Recently in Ontario, 19-year old Yosif Al-Hasnawi was shot while trying to break up an altercation involving three others. When the paramedics arrived, he advised them he could not breathe. Minutes later, he passed away. A tragic outcome for an innocent young man attempting to act the part of the Good Samaritan. It is sad to witness the acts of coward and barbaric men who kill an unarmed peacemaker with no apparent concern. Yosif was an exemplary young man.
SITE C DAM: THE CURSE OF A PRISTINE ENVIRONMENT!
The government of British Columbia had a golden opportunity to STOP the Site C Dam, but they failed. Lame excuses were all that were offered.
And once again, it is all about money and the bottom line. Actually, isn’t it about multi billion-dollar government contracts, subcontracts, buddies, under-the-table deals, and greed? It is hard to say, but in my mind, it leaves the door open for potential political corruption and the flagrant loss of environmental values and long-term survival of a most precious asset, our ecosystem and biodiversity.
FINALLY! GRIZZLY BEAR TROPHY HUNTING BANNED IN BRITISH COLUMBIA!
According to Global News Radio, on average, 250 Grizzly bears are killed by hunters every year in BC.
On December 18th, 2017, the ruling New Democratic Party (NDP) for British Columbia formally banned all hunting of the majestic Grizzly Bear except for hunting practised by First Nations people, who retain this right for ceremonial reasons, treaty rights, and food harvesting.
IS WILDLIFE TRADE A CRIMINAL ACT THAT NEEDS STOPPING?
Not every wildlife trade is illegal, but there is no doubt that the illegal wildlife trade is on the rise worldwide. It is a serious problem even within Canada through the export and import of prohibited species. Illegal wildlife trade is growing at a rate of 8% a year worldwide. It is a multibillion-dollar business and it has a direct correlation with the extinction of many species in both, flora and fauna. Trophy hunting, wild animal pets, and bogus medicinal purposes are the main culprits promoting wildlife smuggling and poaching.
WHAT? CANADIAN ENVIRONMENT BETRAYED BY OUR OWN GOVERNMENT?
The Liberal Party in Canada is known to fight in favour of human rights, nationally and internationally. Yes, the pride of all Canadians! But why do they want to look good and shine abroad with the white flag of fairness, when at home throughout history they have turned their back on our environment, ecosystems, and indigenous people; the latter with the black flag of human rights infringement. Just a few weeks ago, PM Trudeau apologized to the indigenous people and cried when he did so. We all believed him and felt for our indigenous people.
WHY DID PM TRUDEAU FAIL IN HIS INITIAL NEGOTIATIONS WITH CHINA?
Again, there is no doubt our PM Trudeau is charismatic, photogenic, good-looking, popular and with a PhD in selfies. But what do Presidents, Prime Ministers and their respective cabinets around the world really think about his intellectual and professional knowledge and competency? To the eyes of the average Canadian, it is all milk and honey, but the bitter taste of economic failure is on the horizon if our politicians continue lacking patience or being ill-prepared for the level required in the international arena.
SUFFERING ECOPHOBIA? WELL, GIVING UP IS NOT AN OPTION. WE NEED TO JOIN FORCES AND COMMIT OURSELVES TO SAVE OUR ENVIRONMENT.
Ecophobia speaks to the challenge of keeping active, healthy, and hopeful in the wake of sorrowful environmental trends – Deena Kara Shaffer, PhD
