When will parents learn to say … NO … to really protect their children?

Lack of parenthood sometimes pushes children to have an accident. A 10-year-old boy decided to sit on the retaining wall at Niagara Falls, for his mother to take a picture. When he repositioned himself, he slipped and fell over the gorge railing more than 25 metres (82.5 feet). He was flown in a helicopter to the intensive care unit (ICU) of the nearest hospital. He is in critical but stable condition.

An increasing number of today’s parents are ill-equipped to raise healthy and responsible children. They need to STOP being their children’s buddies and adopt the real true PARENTAL role, which boys and girls need to understand, respect, and follow. This is very alarming! Children nowadays have hard time obeying instructions such as STOP or NO! They have been taught not to care about others and just to get what they want, regardless of the repercussions.

The word … NO … has magical powers that save children from frustrations in life and it even helps to protect their lives. As a parent, we just need to let the word NO out of the Genie bottle and keep it handy all the time with enough determination to apply it when required. In the case of the 10-year-old boy above mentioned, it would have certainly saved him from that fall. It is so sad the boy’s vacation will not be a good memory. Hope he gets well soon!
